It is not often in life that great opportunities arrive in a free package.  But just as it says in the title of this article, ‘free training,’ that is exactly what you get. Peterborough FM will once again be offering radio broadcast training at our premises (Unit C1 - 27 Norfolk Street).

If you have ever considered getting into radio broadcasting, or had a dream to host your own show, then this course is just for you and will give you all the basic skills to get started. Our volunteers have cited that the training we offer has helped them tremendously, not just in a technical aspect, but also contributing to the development of their skills and general confidence.  We feel that this is one of the most important things about our training as we engage with members of the public allowing them to develop themselves in new and exciting ways.

Radio Broadcast training can be a very expensive pursuit and in the East of England there are few studios equipped to offer this type of training.  Radio training can also be a lengthy study requiring many sessions without any guarantee that you will have the opportunity to put your skills to good use. This is why the opportunity that Peterborough FM has to offer is so unique.  Not only do you gain valuable skills in broadcasting you will also have the opportunity to produce your own radio show, if you choose.

Our sessions have been created in a simple way to help give you the basic skills to learn radio production.  Training includes an introduction to basic scriptwriting, working with sound equipments and the mixing table, how to edit a recording, and basic delivery and presentation skills for a radio show. Using all of these elements you will quickly learn the fundamentals of how radio broadcasting works giving you the chance to produce and host your own show for Peterborough FM.

Follow-up, supervised training is on-going so there is always a helping hand if you need one. We have a great team of radio hosts who have all taken part in the training who come from diverse backgrounds and age groups. You do not need any formal training or qualifications just the will to work for a community radio station and share your interests and passions with the public.
